a marriage at the mansion

Wow. i have never photographed a wedding at Loose Mansion before, but it truly ranks as one of my top favorite spots. It is a photographers dream. Meredith and John came from Colorado to have their wedding and fell in love with Loose Mansion instantly. So much history, a story at every turn, what a great place to begin the story of life together.

booberry blueberry

People always seem to be annoyed with the fact that i don't carry pictures of my son. i guess it's because i think he's cuter in person. Here's a rare exception. i love these pictures of him. He was laughing so hard and just looks like Deacon! Something about those blue eyes and chubby legs makes me melt.

race and wreck

Saturday i finally accomplished something i've wanted to do for a long time, i finished my first triathlon!  It really was an awesome experience! i had 3 goals; finish in under 2 hours, never walk, and not collapse and die before the finish line.  i finished in 1 hour and 27 minutes, ran- (VERY slowly) the whole time, and i lived to blog about it.  It was great and definitely worth the work and training.  My heros Coach Patterson and Whitney were amazing in helping me prep, and super encouraging the entire time.  i liked it so much i've got a couple more in mind for the summer!

During the post race glow, Brandon, Deacon, and i were on our way to brunch at the Humburgs.  A lady didn't see a van coming through a 2 way stop and hit them pretty hard sending their van airborne over a curb and into our car head on.  We were pushed into a parked jeep.  All our airbags deployed beating us up pretty good.  My door wouldn't open so i climbed out of the open sunroof.  Brandon jumped out and got Deacon who was really upset.  One lady was taken to the to the hospital, the rest of us were checked out there.   Brandon had a hole burned in his shorts, deacon has some bruises and burns from the seat belt, and i have a seat belt burn, bruised swollen knee, and eye.  We were so lucky it wasn't worse.  i just bought a volvo 3 weeks ago, and we were driving it.  it was a good thing we were in that car.  it's a bummer but it kept us safe.

Precious Pruitts

i LOVE the Pruitts!  They are so funny, sweet, and just great people to be around.  Mike and Jaime have the cutest little girls ever.  Norah and now little Lucy.  I got the pleasure of photographing miss lucy for the first time last week.  She is super laid back, and just took everything in.  Norah is an awesome big sister already, she willingly gave lots of kisses to Lucy, and lots of laughs and smiles to me!

Colorado Cool

my childhood friend, meredith of all names, decided the perfect place for her wedding would be in the sweet state of missouri.  So her future husband and all their family traveled from Colorado to KC for a week long celebration of her and John's love.  Today we went to some of my favorite KC landmarks and had a great time together.  Look for their wedding pictures next week!

the preacher says i do

i spent Saturday photographing Ashley and Patrick's special day.  Most women wait a lifetime to have someone look at them the way Patrick looks at Ashley.  As the day went on the more i realized  just how cool their relationship is.  A relationship that almost didn't happen, but bloomed into something wonderful.  So it's off to Texas for the happy couple to live among the bluebonnets and tumbleweeds.

Daddy's Little Girl

My friend Ty and his daughter Maddie came over for dinner, and of course a see saw ride.  I can't imagine how fun it must be to ride an adult sized see saw when you are a kid sized person.  I can only dream.

Frogs, Trucks, and Trikes

Little Trent came to see me at the farm and brought with him all things suitable for a good day.  A big fire truck he had just gotten for his 3rd birthday, his bright red trike that i believe every little one should have, and a handful of frogs- plastic of course.  We had a great time exploring, he taught me a thing or two, for starters how to count in multiple languages- smarty pants.

Daddy of Girls

Some of my earliest memories are with Justin.  He was the sweet, little, toe head down the street.  Summers filled with playing house and running back and forth between our yards made for a sweet childhood.  He was always the daddy and his twin brother was always our son,  I guess you could say I prepared him for marriage!  I couldn't have been more happy when he and his wife Julie came to have me photograph their brand new baby girl Carly and her big sister Cassidy. Justin is still as sweet as ever, still somewhat of a toe head, and still an amazing daddy.

Serious about farming

Jake won my heart.  This little dude couldn't be cuter.  He was very curious about the tractors and rocks, a little less curious about me and what i was up to.  But that makes for an honest photograph and a very serious little man.  Here are a couple of my favs.
