no guarantees

we make promises in life, all of us do it. some of us stand by those promises even if it's to a bitter end. our hope is that when someone makes a promise to us they will cling to it, but it doesn't always happen that way.

mary might be having a hard year, maybe even a hard several years but her ability to rise above and realize there are no guarantees in this life make her different. ask her how she's doing and she will say she's great. ask her about the hard stuff and she will point to the bright parts within. three of those bright spots are holly, tj, and jake. her love for them pulls her outside herself. she gets up everyday knowing that three people depend on her to be the best person she can and to not take herself to seriously. that doesn't mean she that she doesn't struggle with self doubt, insecurities, and even anger. it just means she refuses to be a victim. and at the end of the day she encourages a whole fleet of people, without even knowing it.

yup- it sure is jake's shoe hitting holly in the face- see, no guarentees

hopscotch

if you've read my blog for very long you will know i have a deep love of kentucky. i jump at the chance to go, and am always sad to leave.

my favorite children's boutique "Hopscotch" just happens to be in lexington and just happens to be owned by my amazing cousin courtney. we thought it would be fun to offer a special day of mini photo shoots to her clients! the most beautiful kids, with the kindest most wonderful parents. i had the best day of making new friends!

(caroline felt is was absolutely necessary that we had a photo together, so we did)

faith and love

one of the best things on earth is to have someone that understands you. that you know is out for your best interest and wants to walk life out together. someone that pushes you to believe in something bigger than yourself. when all the other voices get too loud to have someone that helps you quiet your soul and listen. someone who will drop their plans to be with you, to move to a foreign city, to make you laugh, or just hold you when you've had a bad day.

justin and abby have found the good stuff.

welcome home little one

they say everything changes when you become a parent. your world is turned upside down, but in the best kind of way. as i watched jason and jill with their week old baby boy, i knew this was true. the week before hungry cries, and burp cloths probably meant nothing. somehow soft voices, tender words, and a watchful eye all took root in the moment he arrived.

welcome little william.
