pennies in a jar

when we were roommates in college she had a habit of picking up pennies. i'm not really sure when she started doing this, but she said that with every penny she found, she said a prayer for her future husband, and then put it in a jar. on her wedding day she would give her husband the jar of pennies and her husband would know that she was thinking about him long before they ever met. those small tokens found on an average day would become hundreds of prayers waiting for her husband.

their wedding was full of things like this, blue birds of happiness, charms pinned under her dress, a signature cocktail; all little reminders that this day was set apart. but that's anna. she doesn't do things because it's what she saw in a magazine, she does what makes people feel special.

because of this kindness she has been a bridesmaid in countless weddings. for them it was important to have a very small ceremony and intimate dinner with only their families, and me of course! because they did it this way, the day felt personal, relaxed, and honest. after dinner we came back to the Kemper Museum for an incredible party, including all of their friends. it was the perfect day.

my beautiful friend, thank you for letting me photograph you on your wedding day. you have always been so beautiful, your wedding day was no exception.
