sweets for the sweets: kurtz family

the kurtz family have gone from clients to sweet friends. i adore them. julie is beyond creative, outgoing and is always looking out for me. john is an amazing father, has a garden that would rock your face off, and can build or make just about anything you ask. the kiddos are hilarious, but are also so sweet.

around this time every year julie sends me an email to set up time for her kiddos. it truly is an honor to be able to photograph them year after year, watching how the kids change and grow, yet somehow stay the same. it's tradition to take the same photograph of julie and julia. (5th one down) we have done it since she was bitty.  i told julie this pose might be somewhat awkward when she's a teenager.  it's sweet to see how julias little face has remanded the same as she grows and grows.

this year julie wanted me to photograph the kids doing something really special. first we went to a nearby creek and splashed around in barefeet and galoshes. there is nothing like playing in a creek. little julias little dress was drenched, but her laughter put everything in perspective. after working up an appetite we went into Platte City for the biggest ice cream cones i've ever seen, jack demolished his in no time flat!
