pride doesn't even begin to describe the feeling i have for brandon after watching him run and conquer a marathon. he trained for a long time but watching him gut out those 26.2 miles, in the pouring rain, and finish 20 minutes ahead of time gave me a completely new respect for the man.
it's interesting to watch people at a race. they all have different agendas: "i just want to finish, i'm doing this for my sick friend, i just turned forty, or i'm pushing my son that was in a car accident last year". brandon said his reason for running was because he could. he wanted to do it because we have a son that looks up to him and needs to know that some things are worth working hard for, and even though he's little he understood.
i was inspired to tears every time brandon ran by, sometimes with a smile, sometimes incoherent. inspired by the finish line when sons joined their dads for the last 100 yards, and inspired at the start to see my friend zac run like he was born to do it (he finished 8th!)
we had a great time in st.louis and as i pack up the car to go back this morning i had to post these because i was overcome with pride for my husband again.
